I am due any minute with baby #4. To make things short, I can't wait for this kid to finally pop out!
I am still reading my Friends page when I have a minute, so please don't think I have abandoned you all! It's just been crazy!
I don't even remember the last time I was on here. Life has been beating me up. I finally got all my stuff to make some costumes and...
I'm pregnant!
So it looks like that will have to wait, but I may start my daughter's if I get enough energy to even lift my hand more than once a day.
We are also moving 22 hours away back to IL in 1.5 weeks.
I also met my bio-father.
What a month!
Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to list 10 movies: your 5 Favorites & your 5 Guilty Pleasures. An explanation should be included. Then, pick 5 of your friends and tag them. No tag backs.
1. Labyrinth-what's not to love?
2. The English Patient-just break my heart now. *Sigh*
3. Sleepy Hollow-fabulous costumes and Johnny Depp ;)
4. Legend-Good versus Evil
6. Willow-Just so cute and the Brownies rock!
Guilty Pleasures
1. Back to the Future-Good show to watch when nothing else is on
2. The Goonies-I'm a Goonie
3. Matilda-So cute and sad and happy at the same time.
4. Lost Boys-Jason Patrick.
5. Little Women-I don't know why. Maybe it's the close family?
If you haven't been tagged yet consider yourself tagged now!
If you are reading this, you are tagged!
So I finally figure out how to get my hair done up Edwardian-period like. Guess what? My hair is too thin. Since we moved to NC, my hair has been massively falling out. I went from having "the thickest hair" my hairdressers had ever seen (no joke) to now having probably 1/4 of that. It falls out in clumps. My hair was just too thin to make the pompadour in the front.
Does anyone know what to do about hair falling out or making it look thicker?
By Jove they are expensive. Before I splurge, does anyone have any recommendations? I see that the Gingher ones are popular, and I found one brand that has the more scalloped look. And then there's this:
http://www.greenmanforge.com/
Which is fabulous but expensive for me right now.
So I have been searching how to figure out to get my hair into a more period look.
http://intimelyfashion.com/hair/main.ht
Voila! This site is incredible!
I use to be a very loyal Rococco/18th century costumer. But lately I have found myself utterly intrigued with tudor and victorian clothing. I have always "liked" them. But now they are really growing on me. My huge list of dresses I must have has quadrupled.
How does everyone do their period hair? Without hair pieces, if possible. I don't have the money for hairpieces. I am talking not only style, but hair care. Obviously way back when, people didn't wash their hair everyday with Pantene and blow dry it. Any good resources for period haircare?
Here are some examples (the b&w photos are distant relations or unrelated from Owsley Co. KY historical society): ( behind the cut )
I bought way too much and it is taking everything I have in me not to get more. Bad girl, bad!
I bought for Maddie (her bday is in 3 weeks!)
1 yard of http://www.fabrics-store.com/first.p
5 yards of http://www.fabrics-store.com/first.p
2 beginners samplers: http://scarlet-letter.com/title/sampler
6 books that are colonial (Felicity) or cats related
The Cecile and Isabel dolls and books from ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/Isabel-Girls-of-Man
http://cgi.ebay.com/American-Girl-G
Apparently I didn't get that great a deal and should have bid instead of buying them "now", but whatever.
The JP Ryan six piece wardrobe pattern for myself
New France Girls pattern set for Mad
and I am going to have to order some miscellanies like linen thread on Monday from either
http://www.woodedhamlet.com/index.html
or http://www.wmboothdraper.com/Samplers/c
The problem is that I just want too much from the above places and I know that I will spend all of the grocery money on these places. I need to meditate on self control. Hey, I was a good girl when I got the patterns and cloth (just barely enough for the shifts for now, I hope), right? Now to be consistent...
So I was about to order a couple of patterns from http://www.longago.com/colonialchil
