Stupid hair

January 14th, 2007 (09:46 am)

So I finally figure out how to get my hair done up Edwardian-period like. Guess what? My hair is too thin. Since we moved to NC, my hair has been massively falling out. I went from having "the thickest hair" my hairdressers had ever seen (no joke) to now having probably 1/4 of that. It falls out in clumps. My hair was just too thin to make the pompadour in the front.

Does anyone know what to do about hair falling out or making it look thicker?

Thank you both. It is very depressing. I used to hate my hair for being so thick and now I want it back. :(

I think it is just stress. My nails are really strong, strangely (not common for me), so I know it's not protein, and unlikely iron. *sigh*

Hi! Just thought I'd chime in... I second the suggestion for a hair rat/donut. While my hair is thick, the texture is fine, so it tends to collapse on itself when styled, so the rat helps immensely.

Also, have you had your thyroid checked? Hair loss is one of the most noticeable symptoms of hypothyroidism. It runs in my family and I have the early stages of it. :P

Could also be hormonal birth control if you're on any (sorry if this is getting too personal). Some forms of hormonal birth control are known to cause hair loss.

Anyhoo, it is something you should have checked out before you go bald! ;)

It could be my thyroid again...

I had thyroiditis and a node growing back in 2002. It has since not caused any issues and I surely hope that is not it. Crap, now I have to go to the doctor-I never even thought about that. :(
